Back for Good! (hopefully...)

I'm here again, and I'm gonna be posting on this blog more frequently, I hope.

So what's been happening with my life when I was gone (for more than a year)?

A lot, actually. And it would probably fill a whole collection of an encyclopedia library if I would tell everything, so let's just keep that period of my life shrouded with a veil of mystery (hehe, there's nothing like a good mystery to keep you up at night, as Bella Swan says in Twilight. That was not in the movie, and I'm definitely not a fanatic, just a bookworm.XP)

While I was gone I created lot of things on my laptop during my spare times, including a Wordpress site (which I actually just started up last Monday) which is "...Over a Cup of Coffee", and a Wix.com project which is of the same theme as my Wordpress site. And I also edited some pictures and made some graphic stuffs which are just nothing compared to what professionals can do, but I would still like to post them up. Here's one that I made of the Google header.

It's not much, and it's kind of messed up since I was just using Paint to do it. I don't know how to use Photoshop to its full potential yet, and I haven't gotten around to getting to know the program since I haven't installed it on my laptop. I keep forgetting about it somehow. Maybe I'll be posting something better in the future. Anyway, this picture and more of my creations are also posted on my Wordpress site, so if you wanted to check them out, feel free to do so, and don't forget to leave some comments.

Well, see you around!

iPhone Causes a Man's Death

Author: Unknown // Category: , , ,

I don't know when this really occurred, but I have just read yesterday that a man was pushed to committing suicide because of an iPhone secrecy-related issue. It was said that a security guard of a certain company in China tortured and pushed the worker, who was alleged to have lost a certain prototype model of iPhone, to his wits that he killed himself. I won’t say I know everything that has happened, but this is what I understood from what I’ve read: I guy was dead. He was first tortured. By a mere guard. The trigger was an iPhone. And this happened in China.

You could say iPhones might be the present coolest gadget. And a leakage of a prototype model could cost a lot to a company. But to kill, for just a phone? That’s just plain stupid!

Okay, he wasn’t killed, he committed suicide. But why did he do that? Because he can’t take the “interrogation method” anymore, which roughly translated is actually torture, and dying is the only escape he could find. I wonder how cruel business world can be, particularly the technological industry. I’ve heard of some business rife that ends in murdering rivals, but in this case, the guy was a mere worker in the company, and he’s telling the truth, for God’s sake, why can’t they have been more just in trying the guy? And why is it that the guards are doing the interrogation? Shouldn’t there have been a separate interrogation team? Is this the way in China? My aunt who used to work there, and I don’t think that’s the way for every company, for in fact, she came back home safe and sound. So if not every company in China is as ill-reputed as the one involved in this iPhone suicide scandal, it would be better for Apple to choose rightly the companies they would be partnering with, and not mix with those who have bad reputations. That would surely tarnish their reputations too. And for a company as big as Apple, reputation is always a big deal. That’s the way it should be.

Ever complained of some problems with your Vista OS?

Rocker's Team International Operating System (former Black Edition Team) offers a new OS that was specially designed to eliminate those complaints!

Meet the new Windows Vista Eternity 2009!

I might not be an expert in these kicks, but this could just be the coolest OS in town, with it's dock tools right on top of the desktop, the one in yellow (or is that orange? I just could not judge colors correctly)...

You can opt to change the colors and appearance of the dock according to your own personalities. Just click the dock settings, and this window will appear.

And meet the cool gadgets incorporated in it...

And that's not just that, there's more to it than cool gadgets and smoothe and suave desktop. As I said earlier, the Rockers Team tweaked this OS so that those troubles you had with the former Vista OS are eliminated. The only thing that I am slightly flustered about is its slow shutting down. But other than that, it's a funky find.

So what are you waiting for?
Change that problematic OS of yours and explore this hot new Windows Vista Eternity 2009!

Super Nth Level Cool Lola

Author: Unknown // Category: , , ,

Meet the coolest grandma in town. Lola Techie, BayanTel’s supergranny. You must never underestimate her. As in, ever.

I’m pretty sure any kid would love to have a super-cool granny like Lola Techie.

A computer savvy, she can outdo any common websurfer, even I myself cannot dare to compare my average skills to hers. She plays online games, the kind that boys go loco over (I’m sure it was a “gonna-gun-you-down” game she was playing on the commercial). She does Plurk, Twitter, and Facebook. She posts and views videos on Youtube. And this you’ll never believe. She maintains her own personal website, and she’s always ready to send you a reply, with her very fast internet connection.

I would not know how anyone would react if I have a lola who can cope up with (she might even surpass) one’s internet capabilities. It might be intimidating to others, but I would be proud to have her. Imagine this: I could share a clan in Vampire Wars or join mafia in Mafia Wars with her. We could check out each other’s status in Facebook, Plurk, Twitter, or Friendster. And we could share blogs, play online games… She could teach me how to play DotA (I really wanted to learn how to play that, but no one’s patient enough to teach me), or Conquer, or any other games. I could share with her some cool websites I have found out. I’m sure we could have great bonding moments online. So, how cool is that!

But I could only imagine it. It’s either real-life gramps and grannies have shunned themselves away from technological advancement, or we, kids of the new generation, are not too patient to integrate them to the techno world. Whatever it is, we had left them behind.

But wouldn’t it be great if we had bonding moments with our grandpas and grandmas through the internet?

Then there would be more than just Lola Techie around. And the world might be a lot better, and way cooler than it is now.

Hurrah for more Lola Techie!

On Law School, Laptops, and Legally Blonde

Author: Unknown // Category: , ,
Remember the movie Legally Blonde, where the socialite girl with a Masters in Polka Dots History entered Harvard Law School? She made many adjustments, from her old life as the Fashion Princess, to being one studious law student carrying a bunch of heavy books. She also changed her frilly notebook and pen to a pink laptop to fit in and be ready for the lessons. If only I could change this stupid notebook for a laptop too…
I'm in my first semester as a law student now, and honestly, I am beginning to understand that the adjustment that the movie presented was nothing compared to a real-life scenario in law school. And, it might be a little easier if I could use laptop in school. The "bosses" don’t let us use such techy gadgets since they "wanted us to polish our skills in writing with our own hands as preparation for the bar exams". So, how troublesome is that? I mean, we could at least download the cases we needed for reference using the net submit our case digest encoded, but no, they don’t want us to do that. If they just let us use laptops instead, I wouldn’t have had to bring around with me thick books that I can’t even understand.

They say they’re using the Socratic method of teaching, in the sense that they would not be lecturing, but would instead asking us questions. Is this part of the Socratic Method too, to let us suffer the primitive ways of the law school here in the Philippines?

Harvard education style is way more convenient since apparently laptops are an educational trend there. I mean, just like in the Legally Blonde movie, where everyone is expected to have their own laptop. E-books would be much help to my study and to my class participation than having to scan and memorize principles from the super thick books with their so unattractive covers. Who would be interested in reading that?

Okay, so maybe they just wanted us to realize how no-joke it is here in Law School. But at least they could have just let us use the laptop and torture us that much in another way, like having us download thousands of cases to study. It might be a good trend to open ourselves to newer technology. Oh, and laptops is not that new anyway.
